Miss Kay and Phil Robertson in A&E's 'Duck Dynasty' returning for season 4 August 14 at 10PM ET/PT.

Save the date: You're invited to attend the wedding-vow renewal ceremony of 'Duck Dynasty' patriarch Phil and "Miss Kay" Robertson! The duck-tastic event will take place during the premiere of the show's four season on Aug. 14.

The episode, which is entitled "Till Duck Do We Part," will feature Phil, dressed in his finest camouflage pants and bandana, renewing his wedding vows to Kay, his wife of 49 years. Kay, who was only 16 when she wed Phil the first time around, wore a white dress and veil, while the couple's sons all donned suits for the fancy affair.

According to the network's description, the entire Robertson clan will be present at the festivities, including Phil's wacky brother, fan favorite Si.

Everyone comes together to plan a surprise wedding for Phil and Kay, setting up a special ceremony on their land, which the whole family attends. Si distracts Phil and Kay by taking them on a "trip down memory lane" to different places that were meaningful in their relationship.

The high school sweethearts will say "I do" again underneath an altar of flowers and animal antlers, in a ceremony officiated by their unbearded pastor son, Alan, who we will meet for the first time this season.

According to the network, "Duck Dynasty" was the highest-rated non-fiction series on cable last year. Nearly 8.5 million people tuned in on average to watch the hi-jinks of Louisiana's most famous bearded brothers.

The new season of "Duck Dynasty" premieres on Aug. 14 at 10 p.m. on A & E.

Obama hosts Hillary Clinton for lunch ? 'friendship' on the menu

President Barack Obama hosted Hillary Clinton for lunch on Monday, treating his former secretary of state to grilled chicken, pasta jambalaya and salad, amid speculation that her possible 2016 White House run could also be on the menu.

White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters that the purpose of the lunch was "chiefly social" and emphasized that the two seasoned political players have a "genuine friendship" and just wanted to "catch up."

"It's largely friendship that's on the agenda today, it's not a working lunch," said the spokesman, who denied that Obama was already looking at possible successors.

"In terms of whether or not he?ll weigh in on 2016, I think [it's] far too early to tell," Earnest said. "I?m sure there will be plenty of people, probably even you, who will ask him about that. But I?m not going to commit him one way or the other at this point."

Clinton is scheduled to have breakfast Tuesday with Vice President Joe Biden at his official residence on the grounds of the U.S. Naval Observatory, a Biden aide said. Biden is widely seen as one of Clinton's potential rivals in 2016.

Clinton's successor at the State Department, former Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry, was seen entering the White House a little after she did. But "the table is being set for two," Earnest said. Kerry was to meet later with Obama.

Clinton and Obama were expected to discuss the newly relaunched Middle East peace talks, the spokesman said.

Obama?s press office had announced the luncheon meeting, but there was no media access. Instead, the White House released a picture snapped by an official photographer.

An embarrassing scandal involving top Clinton aide Huma Abedin may be another reason the former secretary of state wasn't planning to speak to reporters. Abedin is married to Anthony Weiner, who is refusing to quit the New York City mayor's race even after acknowledging he had continued the sexting behavior that forced him out of Congress in 2011.

Even barely past the halfway mark in 2013, ?Hillary 2016? rumors have swirled around Washington ? notably because of the possibility that this could pit her against? Biden.

?I can die a happy man never having been president of the United States of America,? Biden recently told GQ. ?But it doesn?t mean I won?t run.?

The magazine described Biden as being ?a Hillary Clinton away from the White House.? That?s a nod to the loose inside-the-Beltway consensus that he won?t run in 2016 if she does.

Hillary stepped down as America?s top diplomat Feb. 1 after serving out Obama?s entire first term. She has been giving speeches around the country, some of them handsomely paid, others for free.

Rumors that she might be looking to make Bill Clinton the first husband have stoked partisan political passions. There is a ?Ready For Hillary PAC? encouraging her to run and a ?Stop Hillary PAC? that, well, the name is a bit of a clue.

CNN announced Tuesday it had hired Oscar winning filmmaker Charles Ferguson to direct a documentary on Clinton, to debut in 2014.

And NBC has decided to produce a four-hour miniseries based on Hillary Clinton's life from 1998 onward, starring Diane Lane in the lead role. That would likely start the story arc with the country in the grips of the scandal over Bill Clinton's affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky. It would then carry through her successful Senate race in New York, her defeat at Obama's hands in the fight for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008, and finally her time as secretary of state.

USPTO hands down final (but not really final) rejection of Apple's pinch-to-zoom API patent

[unable to retrieve full-text content]

Source: www.fosspatents.com --- Sunday, July 28, 2013
Between 1 AM and 2 AM local time on Sunday, Samsung's counsel in the intellectual property dispute with Apple notified the court of a "final" Office action by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) rejecting all claims of Apple's pinch-to-zoom API patent, U.S. Patent No. 7,844,915 on "application programming interfaces for scrolling operations", including its claim?8, which one federal jury found infringed by numerous Android-based Samsung devices about a year ago and with respect to which another jury will have to re determine damages in November?2013 for a dozen of those products (the retrial is about 13 products, 12 of which were found to infringe this patent). Samsung claims to have a workaround in place for the '915 patent that makes no difference to end users but steers clears of infringement, which Apple disputes . Based on Apple's damages claims, the pinch-to-zoom API patent is the most valuable multitouch software patent at issue in the first Apple v. Samsung litigation in the Northern District of California, but most of the damages in that case relate to design patents. Also, I believe that the patents at issue in the second Apple v. Samsung case in San Jose, scheduled to go to trial next spring, are, on average, considerably more valuable than the ones asserted in the first case. Here's the cover page of the "final" Office action (this post continues below the document): 13-07-26 Cover Page Final USPTO A ...

Doctor retained by A-Rod says leg uninjured

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? A doctor retained by Alex Rodriguez for a second opinion ? one that contradicted the New York Yankees' diagnosis of his leg injury Wednesday ? was reprimanded this year by New Jersey's board of medical examiners over steroid prescriptions.

Rodriguez is one of more than a dozen players under investigation by Major League Baseball for alleged ties to a Florida clinic accused of distributing performance-enhancing drugs.

The New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners filed an order of reprimand against Dr. Michael Gross on Feb. 13 for his conduct at his Active Center for Health & Wellness.

"The board ordered and Dr. Gross agreed to be formally reprimand(ed) for permitting an individual who had completed medical school but did not have a medical license to participate in the care and treatment of patients at the center and failing to adequately ensure proper patient treatment involving the prescribing of hormones including steroids at the center," according to the disciplinary summary on the New Jersey Attorney General's division of consumer affairs website.

The orthopedist was fined $30,000 and ordered to pay $10,000 in costs.

The New York Daily News first reported the reprimand Wednesday and said MLB would expand its drug probe to examine Rodriguez's relationship with Gross.

Rodriguez was diagnosed Sunday with a strained left quadriceps on the final day of his injury rehabilitation assignment. At the time, the Yankees said the three-time MVP was examined by team physician Dr. Christopher Ahmad at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, where an MRI was performed. The team said Rodriguez had a grade one strain, which is the least severe type, and would return to Tampa for rest and treatment.

But Gross said during an interview on WFAN radio Wednesday that he examined Rodriguez's scan earlier in the day.

"To be perfectly honest, I don't see any sort of injury there," Gross said. "It's such a small thing that you might not see it on an MRI."

He added: "I asked him does anything hurt? And he said no.'"

Gross never personally examined Rodriguez and based his diagnosis on the MRI.

He didn't return a telephone message left at his office.

Under baseball's collective bargaining agreement, a player must inform his team in writing of his decision to obtain a second medical opinion. The Yankees said Rodriguez retained Gross without notifying them.

"As always, we will follow the rules and regulations set forth in the Basic Agreement, and will again re-evaluate Alex in Tampa tomorrow, as our goal is to return him to the lineup as soon as he is medically capable of doing so," general manager Brian Cashman said in a statement.

Cashman said Rodriguez complained of "tightness" in the quadriceps July 12 "and therefore refused to consent to the transfer of his assignment" from Class A Tampa to Triple-A Scranton. He said Rodriguez complained of stiffness again Sunday, which led to the MRI.

Rodriguez arrived at the Yankees' minor league complex Wednesday and spent a little over four hours there.

"I feel great. That's all I've got to say." he said when he left, rolling down a window of the SUV he was riding in. Then he rolled up the window, gave a thumbs up as it closed and departed.

Rodriguez, who turns 38 on Saturday, had been recovering from hip surgery in January. He hit .250 (8 for 40) with two homers and eight RBIs in 13 minor league games before the leg injury.

Outfielder Curtis Granderson, coming back from a broken pinkie, talked with Rodriguez in the clubhouse.

"I saw him briefly as soon as I came in," Granderson said. "He wanted to come hit with us, but he had to get some stuff taken care of. Almost like a kid out at recess, they had to stop him. You can't go yet. But it's all good signs knowing that he's eager and ready" to return.

Granderson said Rodriguez was in a good mood.

"Smiling, talking," Granderson said. "Doesn't seem any different than what I've seen in the past."

NOTES: Granderson, expected back in early August, says he will start a minor rehab assignment Thursday night with Class A Tampa and will be evaluated at the end of the weekend. ... INF Jayson Nix, sidelined by a hamstring injury, played third base in his first minor league game with the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Yankees. He went 0 for 2 and was hit by a pitch.
